If we don' t learn from the past, we will make the same mistakes in the future! AbidanOne is a test-bed for new, forward thinking ideas. We pursue passions that leave a positive impact in the world we live in. Our interests are fundamental as monetary policy and intricate as software design and engineering. Consider your surroundings for a moment, everything electronic is computerized. Your refrigerator can now indicate when you run out of milk and order more. Your car can disable itself when it is stolen. You can download movies and songs to your iPod anywhere a wireless connection is available. What do all these situations have in common? We are all connected to the Network (aka Internet) in some way.
As a result of being connected to the Network, we are bombarded with information. If we try to decipher the mountains of information ourselves, the usefulness of the information would have expired. Charts and graphs are some of the tools we use to make sense of stock quotes. We should also use technology to help us make sense of all the information we consume. Our goal at AbidanOne is to provide free tools that provide clarity, improve your standard of living, and that you can access from anywhere. We understand that being connected mean that you need to access your information where ever you are in the world.
AbidanOne is still a work in progress. We are constantly improving our applications and adding new features. Please visit us often and feel free to leave us feedback. We are always eager to get advice from our users. Thanks for making AbidanOne a part of our day.
Technology OverviewAccessibility & Web Standards
Each Individual is unique. We all have different abilities and face a variety of challenges. Web applications should be accessible to all regardless of ability. At AbidanOne, we strive to engineer all applications based on web-standards such as XHTML/CSS and Javascript. Our applications do not require any special plug-in software to be useful. Cluttered and complicated interfaces make it difficult for your users to find what they are looking for in your application. To avoid confusion and discomfort, we design our user interface with one simple principle, "Less is Best". Our user interfaces are simple, functional and get out of your way so you can accomplish your objectives.
Performance
There was a time when web applications were considered slow. Users had to wait for the entire page to refresh after they submitted a form before they could interact with the application. Today's web application have come a long way. With the coining of "Ajax", applications became more responsive and pleasent to work with. As developers used more and more javascript to improve their application, their code base became difficult to maintain. Developers started using "Ajax frameworks" to help create responsive applications, however there were still issues. To make our applications extremely fast we use the Google Web Toolkit. Simply put, there isn't a better Ajax toolkit on the market for building non-trivial applications. The Google Web Toolkit provides a way to incorporate sound software engineering practices into developing web applications. Current applications become even more fast with every new version of the Google Web Toolkit. All of our applications will be built exclusively using the Google Web Toolkit because our users deserve the best technology we can provide.
Mobility
It's not enough to expect your customers to sit in front of a computer screen and interact with your application. The iPhone has changed what consumers expect in a mobile device. As consumers' needs change, so should your business. Our web applications are optimized for the mobile browsers of the future. They work on the iPhone, Android handsets, or any modern mobile device. Mobility isn't limited to mobile devices. Consumers spend time on Facebook, MySpace and many other social networks. These networks have opened up their platform to third parties, so businesss can now have a presence in these once walled gardens. So what does this mean for businesses? It's the equivalent of having your business located in multiple states in the US. Your business can now have a corporate office (your main website) and have offices in different locations (Facebook, MySpace). In the coming weeks we will demonstrate some of our applications running in these social networks and explore what's possible in the new Internet age.
