About Michael

First and foremost I give thanks to God for giving me the unique ability to understand internet marketing and advertising to the length I do.

I jumped on the web about 11 yrs ago realizing this was the place for me. My web marketing roots started out in website design and SEO (Search Engine Optimization) to obtain high natural listing rankings. Then Google changed it all in 2003 introducing PPC. I developed my proprietary PPC software in 2005 and have since assisted companies to have a better understanding of SEO & PPC marketing by strategizing to overcome their competition while reducing their expenses. I have managed $1,000 / month budgets to budgets exceeding $300K per year.

SEO

Every business owner I know right now is getting pounded by companies offering “SEO” services.

First you have your fly-by-nights, who just take your money and run. Then you have your large legitimates, the phone book companies and the like, who sell you everything under the sun because they can get away with it and offer you an ok service. Then you have your true legitimate SEO companies that have been doing it for years and practice ethical techniques. These guys usually cost a bit more, but, at the end of the day you end up putting MUCH more money in your pocket.

So what is SEO anyway?

SEO, short for Search Engine Optimization, usually refers to techniques implemented to rank a website higher in the natural listings, or the listings in the main area of a search results page.

SEO sounds simple, the higher you can rank a website for a given search the more traffic you’ll receive. But, if it were that easy wouldn’t we all do it?

Think of it like driving into a new town and trying to find a good place to eat. The first place you see has weeds grown up around it, only one car in the parking lot, and a sign that barely works. The place next to it has a full parking lot, nice landscaping, and the sign is a big chili. Where do you eat? Chili’s of course!

Search engines do the exact same thing to determine which website should rank the highest. Instead of bad landscaping and a full lot here are a few things search engines look at:

- domain age (if they’ve been around a while chances are they’re good at what they do)
- does the title of the page have the searched term in it? (if you’re looking for Chinese food do you pull into Burger King?)
- do other websites link to the website? (wouldn’t you rather eat at a restaurant that others have talked about)
- does the website change information often? (I’ll go to the freshly painted restaurant vs the paint chipping joint next door)

You get the picture. This list goes on, and all of them help establish how relevant a website is to the search. But, what’s important to remember is that search engines look at the whole picture. So even if you have a website that you started this year doesn’t mean you can’t achieve high rankings.

SEO has two parts, internal and external.
Internal has to do with the content and structure of the actual website.
External has to do with outside sources. These include things like other sites linking to yours, reviews of your services by outside sources like Yelp.com, videos you have on YouTube, social media activity on Twitter and Facebook, among many others.

What can we do to help?

Internal SEO

First of all, all of the websites we build are highly optimized on the internal side of SEO for the site’s content and structure. Yes, you can get out cheaper by providing us with your own content. But, if you’re really ready to see some results our content writers can help keep visitors on your pages longer and tailored for specific performing keyword phrases.
If you currently have a website in need of help, I charge a minimal $175 to do a thorough analysis and determine a strategy to get you on top- so drop me a line
External SEO

When you combine External SEO with Internal SEO you’ve made your match! Working with our content writers we develop and distribute press releases, write and submit articles, comment on blogs, film YouTube short videos, handle Facebook fan pages and status updates, and yes we can even Tweet for you!

Paid Search (pay per click)

Depending on what you’re trying to accomplish paid search can be your knight in shining armor.

So what is Paid Search?

Paid search is a method of internet advertising where you either pay for each click you receive, Pay Per Click (PPC), or you pay each time your ad shows up on a page, Cost Per Mil (thousand) CPM. These are the ads you see at the top and right of a SERP (Search Engine Results Page) and they usually say “Sponsored Links”. You can refer to the image at left to see an example. The most popular paid searches are: Google Adwords, Yahoo Sponsored Search, Bing adCenter, and Facebook.

Benefits of Paid Search-

* Small initial investment- you pay for the visitors you get
* Immediate results- like a water faucet, you can adjust the flow of business
* Targeted traffic- how many other methods of advertising will let you advertise to an individual living in Dallas, TX searching for “azerbaijan caviar”? Most advertising is tailored for a mass audience.
* Real-time tracking- You can measure the results almost as they’re happening and make fine-tuned adjustments within hours if need be.

Is paid search right for you?

It’s actually easiest to define when Paid Search is not a good match. If your not willing to spend at least $10 to acquire a sale or do not have the budget to spend advertising dollars towards the brand recognition of your company, then Paid Search probably isn’t for you.
Now that it’s right for me, what next?

There are four key areas we cover when we manage a Paid Search campaign

* Financial analysis
* Competitive analysis
* Strategic implementation
* Performance optimization

Financial Analysis- I’ll always start by asking you how much you’re willing to spend to acquire a lead. This could be the sale of a product, someone who signs up on a list, or even someone picking up the phone to call you. You really need to sit down and think about what that’s worth to you. Some industries, like cell phone companies, see a high long-term value in a customer since most end up staying with one carrier for years. So be sure to take the long-term value into account. Once you have this number, and a few other simple questions I’ll ask you, I’ll put together a Paid Search Analysis that will basically tell you about how many new customers you could potentially pick up. -I charge a nominal fee for this initial analysis which will be applied to implementing your campaign if you decide to do so.

Competitive Analysis- I’ll compare your website to your competition to determine the changes we need to make to landing pages (the page a searcher lands on after they click on your ad) to generate results. Think of it like a billboard, you only have a few seconds to grasp the readers attention and keep them on your site. This usually entails changes to the text, images, and basic flow of the page and its relationship to the website.

Strategic Implementation- After taking into account the cost of advertising and the competitive landscape I determine the best strategy that will achieve the highest results. At this point I’ll provide you a quote that will include an initial set-up and ongoing management fees. If you decide to go with the campaign/s, I’ll put the original analysis fee towards this quote.

Performance Optimization- This phase is very intense the first few months as I am continually monitoring the performance of the campaign and making any necessary changes to improve results. After the first few months, monthly optimization consists of monitoring and improving the performance of the campaign, monitoring the competitive landscape making sure you’re still competitive, and recommend any changes that need to be made to the page or site.
